Stainless steel crowns – these are often used to cover baby teeth or adult molars in children where the teeth are more susceptible to tooth decay for medical reasons.

Porcelain crowns – have traditionally been used for their natural appearance. You will need to wear a temporary crown while it is being made.

Ceramic crowns – can be made and fitted in a single visit using the latest digital scanning technology.

What to expect at your appointment for a crown:

• The first step is to reshape your existing tooth to make sure there is enough space to fit the crown. We have many anaesthetic options to keep you comfortable during this stage.

• Next we will use our digital scanner to take a 3D image of your tooth so we can make your new crown to the exact dimensions.

• Our dentist will then match the colour and features of your existing teeth to ensure the crown is the perfect match for your smile.

• Finally, the new crown will be fitted to your teeth and fixed in place.
